Wall HeatersThe heaters are all gas heaters. Most of them are controlled by a thermostat on the wall - although a few are controlled by a knob on the top of the heater.
The thermostat looks something like this (they are all a little different): There will most likely be an on-off switch someplace on the thermostat. Make sure it is in the “on” position.
Next, there will be some way to adjust the heat. Usually, it’s a control lever at the top of the box that moves horizontally. Move it to the temperature you want.
Sometimes there are two levers at the top. In that case, leave the one on the left in the least-warm position that you want. Put the one on the right to the greatest warmth you want. It may take several minutes before you feel heat coming out of the heater – especially if this is the first time you’ve turned the heater on for the winter. It may smell a little dusty. That's OK too. If no heat comes on at all, check to see if the pilot light is lit. The pilot light is at the bottom of the heater, inside the grate. You can remove the grate by pulling gently (sometimes lifting it up a bit also). It should pull off easily. If it doesn’t, then stop pulling.

If the pilot light isn’t lit, call Max or Jane and we’ll come light the pilot light for you.
If the pilot light is lit, then the heater is working – and the problem could be with the thermostat. Let us know about that, too.
