Outlets and Circuit Breakers
If some of the electricity has gone off in your apartment - or an outlet suddenly doesn't work - it is likely that you blew a circuit. Don't worry! It's easy to fix.
If the problem is that an outlet isn't working - and it is a GFCI outlet - first try the re-set button on the outlet itself. It looks (more or less) like this:

If that doesn't work, or if the problem is not a GFCI outlet, then check the circuit breakers.

Open it up. You'll see a panel or two of switches, kind of like this, only probably not as many:
If you blew the circuit, one of the switches will be slightly (or very) out of alignment with the other ones. Just flip it all the way out of alignment and then back into position. That re-sets the circuit and you should be back in business.
